Job Title:  Technology and Database Infrastructure Specialist

Department:  Operations and Communications Team

Supervisor: Operations Director

FTE:  1.0

Salary Range:  $40,000 – $55,000

Purpose of the Position:
This position will work with the Operations/Communications Team and project staff to manage the organization’s technological assets (such as computers, listservs, hardware/software, etc) and contribute to the design and use of robust relational databases across the organization. This position will work closely with project staff to identify the appropriate technological solutions to achieve project goals and design relational databases (such as Airtable) to serve project management needs. This position at MMSA will be essential as we build our capacity to meet the needs for our services across the country.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The right candidate will have the ability to interpret a project’s technological needs, relational database needs for the organization and its projects, participant management, and work well as part of a team.

The person will:

  • Be an integral member of the Operations Team.
  • Manage (purchase, set up, fix, etc) all Mac and PC computer assets.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff as they encounter hardware and software problems.
  • Support implementation of technology solutions for excellent hybrid, in person, and fully remote meetings and professional learning experiences.
  • Develop, maintain, and revise relational database systems (Airtable is our preferred system) to enable capacity building across the organization for project management, participant relations, and appropriate data sharing.
  • Train staff in technology use and database infrastructure use.
  • Use website marketing and functionality tools to create and maintain MMSA’s brand and grow capacity.
  • Work with project leads implementing technology and database infrastructure solutions.
  • Work with the communication team to plan, oversee and communicate a technology and database infrastructure plan for all staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position will be expected to attend in-person meetings at least twice per month at the MMSA office in Augusta and will be expected to travel occasionally (including rare overnights) at locations elsewhere in Maine (with travel expenses paid by MMSA). They will be able to work from home for part of their time, if desired.

Education & Experience:

The Technology and Database Infrastructure Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring MMSA’s technological hardware/software and managing all relational databases. The ideal candidate will be a team player that can talk tech with a variety of audiences.

Bachelor’s degree is preferred or an equivalent of experience in the field of IT, network infrastructure, database management for at least 3-5 years.

  • Demonstrated experience managing technology infrastructure, IT assets including hardware and software for an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing relational databases, such as Airtable, as well as setting up and managing automations.
  • Knowledge of cutting edge technology solutions for hybrid and remote learning and teaching environments.
  • Experience in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); MailChimp (or other email marketing service); Microsoft Office Suite; database software (such as AirTable); and a willingness to learn new software packages.
  • Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences.
  • Detail oriented and able to manage many projects at once – prioritization of tasks is a must.
  • Ability to work in a telecommuting-based team with a wide range of personalities and interests.
