Building Computational Fluency, a K-2 Progression

WHO WILL BENEFIT:
  • Grades K-2 Educators
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

 

  • Understand a research based learning progression for developing fact fluency and computational fluency in grades K-2.
  • Learn to build conceptual understanding through connecting mathematical representations.
  • Review and revise instructional activities to support sense making and reasoning (in both face to face and online learning environments).
  • Gain access to formative assessments designed to pinpoint strengths and areas of difficulties.
DETAILS: This professional learning series addresses Grades K-2 Number and Operation concepts from the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and related mathematical practices. Foundational concepts (number sense) and operations (addition and subtraction) concepts are included.

The series consists of four 1-hour live virtual sessions and seven 1.5 hour independent/partner asynchronous sessions. The asynchronous sessions are anytime, anyplace.

Additional Coaching Option Available:

  • 3, 1 hour coaching sessions available for this offering.
  • Coaching will take place in small groups (limited to 4 people) Nov through February, schedule TBD to fit participants’ schedules.
  • Coaching will focus on artifacts participants bring to sessions and may include videos of practice, formative assessment examples, planning documents, student artifacts.

$150 additional for coaching

  • Live Session #1 11:00 am -12:00 pm (8/11/2020)
  • 1.5-hr asynchronous independent/partner tasks between live sessions (8/11/2020)
  • Live session #2 11:00 am -12:00 pm (8/12/2020)
  • Two 1.5-hr asynchronous sessions of independent/partner tasks (8/11-8/12/2020)
  • Live session #3 11:00 am -12:00 (8/13/2020)
  • Part 1 Reflection

Series Part 2: August-October

  • Four 1.5-hr asynchronous sessions with independent/partner tasks
  • Live session #5 3:00-4:00 pm (10/13/2020)
  • Part 2 Reflection
