Your help could further MMSA’s vision of a brighter STEM future for the State of Maine and the nation. Today, I ask you to support MMSA and become a part of the movement to support exciting new ways for our youth to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math.
Cohort Code (for registration): RT03VR
Virtual Skill Session: June 14, 2018, 12-2pm
Virtual Coaching Session: July 12, 2018, 12-2pm
How often do youth in your program get to choose what they’re investigating or designing, the materials they might use and/or how they engage with the work? In this two-part module, you’ll try out strategies for giving youth voice and choice and apply the ideas as you redesign a STEM activity to incorporate a greater variety of youth input. After the session, you’ll return to your program with new resources and strategies to practice for strengthening youth voice and choice. You’ll choose one activity to record and share during part two, the coaching session.
We’re looking for people who:
- Have taken an ACRES course before, completing at least the Asking Purposeful Questions module.
- Have consistent interactions with youth.
- Are looking to deepen their practice in giving youth voice and choice.
Thanks to the generosity of the STEM Next and the National Science Foundation, it is FREE to participate in ACRES. You will also be compensated with a $50 stipend for completing a survey before and after you participate.
Both sessions will be virtual and will use the ZOOM video conferencing platform.
