Posing Purposeful Questions in Mathematics

WHO WILL BENEFIT:
  • Grades K-5 Educators
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Experience purposeful questioning techniques in the context of a math activity.
  • Practice embedding questions in lessons to assess and advance student reasoning around a specific goal.
DETAILS: Interested in joining a cohort of passionate educators interested in growing in their practice? This innovative coaching series is a live, completely online, real time, interactive learning experience requiring attendance and participation at each session. Together we will build a safe and brave space for reflecting on our practice.

Questions are the beginning of a path towards discovery, imagination, and exploration. How can we help students expand and clarify their thinking and develop their reasoning through the questions we ask them? In this three-part series, K-5 mathematics teachers along with a math instructional coach will examine the structure and process of questioning throughout math learning experiences. This series is rooted in the NCTM Effective Teaching Practices.
