Your help could further MMSA’s vision of a brighter STEM future for the State of Maine and the nation. Today, I ask you to support MMSA and become a part of the movement to support exciting new ways for our youth to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math.
One of the key innovations of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the Framework for K-12 Science Education is that the Science and Engineering Practices are treated as equally important content to the Disciplinary Core Ideas and the Crosscutting Concepts. Are you working to integrate the Science and Engineering Practices into your instruction, but having trouble doing so in a meaningful way? Do you find yourself getting “stuck” using a few of the practices, but not all of them? In this virtual book study, participants will attend four virtual study group sessions and participate in asynchronous book discussions to collaboratively make sense of the Science and Engineering Practices. The book, Helping Students Make Sense of the World Using Next Generation Science and Engineering Practices, clearly outlines each of the practices and offers practical strategies for implementation. Join us to broaden your knowledge of the practice and hone your skills for implementing the practices in your classroom.
This workshop is ideal for K-8 teachers.
