Interested in joining a cohort of passionate educators interested in growing in their practice? This innovative coaching series will take place completely over video conference, so that you can join from anywhere. Together we will build a safe and brave space for reflecting on our practice.
Questions are the beginning of a path towards discovery, imagination, and exploration. How can we help students expand and clarify their thinking and develop their reasoning through the questions we ask them? In this three-part series, K-5 mathematics teachers along with a math instructional coach will examine the structure and process of questioning throughout math learning experiences. This series is rooted in the NCTM Effective Teaching Practices.
Session 1 (October 8, 2019 3:00-5:00pm): Participants experience and practice posing purposeful questions among other educators and grounded in the context of math activities. Participants then return to their classroom for the next three weeks, where they capture a short recording of the strategies in action.
Session 2 (October 29, 2019 3:00-5:00pm): Participants share their clips, reflect on their practice, and share insights with one another. They then return to their program to record a second round of practice.
Session 3 (December 3, 2019 3:00-5:00pm *NEW DATE): Participants gather for another coaching session where they share their second clip, reflect on their practice, and share insights with one another.
