Elementary Mathematics Diagnostic Interview: 

Professional Learning Opportunity for K-5 Teachers of Mathematics

What will you gain from participating?

  • Access to ready to use tools for supporting the implementation of assessment practices in the K-5 mathematics classroom with a primary focus on diagnostic screening interviews (EMDI) and diagnostic tasks to help identify the range of student learning levels of key numeracy concepts;
  • Access to numerous resources and knowledge of instructional routines for moving student understanding of key numeracy concepts forward; and
  • Build collegial relationships among teachers within a learning community to share ideas and resources and to develop a shared language to describe and discuss students’ mathematical understandings and misunderstandings.

The Face to Face and Online Professional learning sessions will provide support on using the tools as well as building content pedagogical knowledge essential for effective mathematics teaching. The tools and instructional support are applicable for all tiers of instruction/intervention within the RTI framework.
