4 Days of Professional Learning for Science Teachers

This 4-day professional learning offers a comprehensive overview of the OpenSciEd curriculum for grades 6-12.

During these sessions, educators will immerse themselves in the lessons, routines, and strategies of OpenSciEd. Educators will gain confidence in navigating all of the resources embedded in the curriculum so they can maximize their impact on student engagement and learning. Participants will have structured time to work with a specific unit of their choice however, sessions do not include facilitated unit-specific time per grade-level. Educators will leave with a better understanding of how teaching OpenSciEd units can take shape over time and how it improves students’ science sensemaking.

Included in this session are opportunities for teachers to:

  • Deepen their understanding of three-dimensional instruction and assessment
  • Engage in the actual lessons of the unit through both student and teacher lenses
  • Listen to teachers reflect on shifting their instruction with support best practices support from the units
  • Watch videos of students engaging with the material in real-time
