Mathematics Diagnostic Interview (MDI) Tools & Resources

Professional Learning Opportunity for 6-8 Math Educators: Interventionists, Special Educators and Classroom Teachers partnering with Special Educators

  • Access to ready-to-use tools for formative and diagnostic assessment with Grades 6-8 students who receive services in small group settings and/or support in a classroom setting. The primary focus will be on diagnostic screening interviews (EMDI and MDI) and diagnostic tasks (formative probes) to help identify the range of student learning levels of key numeracy and algebraic reasoning concepts;
  • Access to numerous resources and knowledge of instructional tasks, routines and games for moving student understanding of key math concepts forward; and
  • Build collegial relationships within a learning community to share ideas and resources and to develop a shared language to describe and discuss students’ mathematical understandings and misunderstandings.

The professional learning sessions will support using the tools and building content pedagogical knowledge for essential math concepts. The tools and instructional support are applicable for all tiers of instruction/intervention within the MTSS framework.

Schedule & Details

Two sessions: October 10th and November 21st.

Each session will take place from 8:30-2:30.

Location: Augusta.
