Interested in bringing math learning outside?

The natural world can be used as a catalyst for exploring numeracy concepts in fun and healthy ways. Doing math outside can include using natural materials to represent math problems, finding math in nature, and applying math in an outdoor environment.

Numeracy in NatureThanks to the generous funding by the Ferguson Foundation, Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance is offering a free virtual workshop series for K-6 educators this Fall focused on Numeracy in Nature.

In this 2-part series, we will explore meaningful strategies for taking math learning outside, practice and share ideas with one another, and examine resources for teaching numeracy in nature.

Virtual Session 1: Wednesday, November 10, 2021 3:30-5pm Eastern

Virtual Session 2: Wednesday, December 1, 2021 3:30-5pm Eastern
