On May 17th and 18th Funtown Splashtown USA debuted their newly updated STEM days. Last year, Funtown elicited the help of MMSA to expand their highly successful Physics Day program to include broader Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) topics. The foucs was on developing an innovative, exciting and standards-based program at the park for K-12 students throughout the region.
As the new project was unveiled this May, middle and high school kids from around Maine as well as surrounding states, came to Funtown to take a few rides, all while learning about the principals of STEM. Students studied the principles of science, technology, engineering, and math on the park’s rides, giving them an opportunity to say, “I guess there is a real-world application for all this learning…”
“I want to thank you for an excellent day at Funtown. The kids had a blast and the trip went very well. The staff at Funtown was warm, welcoming, and excited to have us. The students learned a great deal and are still completing their work in the booklets. Great job and we thank you for providing this fun, engaging learning day!“
