FREE Course: Elevating Student Voice and Choice through Mathematical Modeling
6 - 12 educators!
Mathematical modeling can provide students with rich, community-based contexts to build their mathematical proficiency. The Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance, with the generous support of UNUM, welcomes Grades 6-12 educators from Cumberland County school districts to join this FREE professional learning course to explore the math practice, “Model with Mathematics.” Participating educators will have the opportunity to engage in math modeling, connect with industry professionals who use mathematical modeling, and practice facilitating math modeling tasks driven by students’ interests and choices.
Team involvement: We recommend joining this course with at least one colleague from your school team so that you can collaborate and discuss mathematical modeling within your shared context.
Graduate Credit Option: With the help of generous funding from UNUM, MMSA is able to offer significant financial support for participants to earn three graduate credits from Thomas College. For a limited time only, MMSA will cover a majority of the tuition costs for participants. You may take the course without opting for graduate credit. For more information, please reach out or attend the info session.
