The Maine Mathematics & Science Alliance (MMSA) hosts annual science and engineering fairs for Maine middle and high school students.
These fairs encourage youth who are passionate about STEM and provides a supportive opportunity for them to engage in scientific inquiry and engineering design while solving real-world problems.
MMSA also offers free, year-round, science-fair specific, professional development and resources for educators and those who have students participating in the fairs.
Maine State Science Fair

Since 1946, the Maine State Science Fair (MSSF) has celebrated high school students’ innovation and provided a platform for them to showcase their research and scientific achievements.
Hosted by MMSA and The Jackson Laboratory, the fair draws hundreds of students each year who present original research projects to STEM professionals serving as judges, compete for recognition and scholarships to Maine colleges and universities, and share their work among peers.
Visit the official MSSF website for details about this year’s fair and register as a teacher or a student.
Maine Middle School Science and Engineering Fair

The middle school fair is an opportunity for students to begin to explore or deepen their interest in STEM. The fair fosters a spirit of inquiry and offers an engaging, supportive place for youth to experience the achievement of creating scientific and engineering design projects.
Our middle school science fair empowers students to embrace challenges, learn from failure, and see themselves as scientists and engineers as they carry out the full process of developing, executing, and presenting their own projects from beginning to end.
Visit the MMSSEF website for details about this year’s fair and register as a teacher or a student.
