Education

I graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with a degree in Elementary Education. I hold certifications as a K–8 elementary teacher and an assistant principal. My background spans classroom teaching, instructional leadership, and professional learning, with a focus on math instruction and educator development.

What is your STEM passion area?

I am passionate about making mathematics approachable, meaningful, and empowering for both students and educators. I’m especially interested in helping teachers build confidence with math so they can create learning experiences that foster curiosity, problem solving, and positive math identities.

What do you like most about your role at MMSA?

I love collaborating with educators across the state of Maine and supporting them in designing engaging, high-quality math experiences for their students. I find it especially rewarding to connect classroom practice with research-based strategies and to help educators translate big ideas into practical, usable instruction.

Favorite STEM-related memory

One of my favorite STEM memories was hearing from a former student who reached out to share that some of their favorite school memories were the math experiences we had together. Knowing that those moments made a lasting impact is something I will always be proud of.

What did you do before you worked at MMSA?

Previously, I served as an Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator, partnering with students and families to design meaningful learning beyond the traditional classroom. Before that, I was a classroom teacher and school-wide technology coach, mentoring teachers-in-training and educators new to the field. I also worked as a Parent Engagement Coordinator for a nonprofit organization, creating accessible opportunities for family involvement in learning. Earlier in my career, I taught special education and volunteered with AmeriCorps. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to student-centered and community-connected education.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, gardening, and all things food.
