This is STEM in Maine …

Join MMSA’s Digital Media Specialist, Tom Goodwin, in discovering what STEM and computer science education are, and why they’re important. Let’s explore how schools, businesses, and communities are using and teaching STEM skills as the needs of Maine’s workforce increasingly relies on computer science and a way of thinking about the world at large.

Educators Need Each Other

ACRES brings educators together from across the country into a brave, supportive space to work together to enhance their experiences, and those of their students. https://acrescoaching.org/(opens in a new tab)

Making Space for… #space 🚀🚀🚀

Science teacher Kathy Bock from Cape Elizabeth Schools shares a hands-on activity using stomp rockets to connect the concept of space into existing curriculum. She shared the activity with educators at the 2024 CS Summer of Fun, with help from Educate Maine and Maine Space Corporation.

This is SciEPlay!

“Play is learning; it’s not an either/or.” We’re studying how pre-schoolers and kindergarteners engage in science and engineering practices in their play. SciEPlay is a collaboration between Bowdoin College, MMSA and Samara Early Learning.

Numeracy in Nature | Professional Learning Day

The natural world can be used as a catalyst for exploring numeracy concepts in fun and healthy ways. Doing math outside can include using natural materials in a child’s community to act out problems, finding math in nature, and applying math in an outdoor environment. Witness educators’ feedback from this professional learning day during summer 2021, and consider taking math outside!

What inspires us to do what we do?

Thank you in advance for supporting MMSA and our 27 year legacy as we continue to inspire tomorrow’s thought leaders.
