Building Thinking Classrooms for Out-of-School Educators
Monday, December 7, 2026 | 12:30–1:30 PM ET | Virtual
What can the ideas behind Building Thinking Classrooms look like in an afterschool or out-of-school setting?
In this free, live virtual workshop, educators will receive an introduction to Building Thinking Classrooms and explore how its principles can be adapted for programs outside the traditional classroom.
The session will introduce core ideas from the approach, share practical examples for out-of-school environments, and explore ways educators can encourage curiosity, collaboration, problem-solving, and mathematical thinking among young people.
No prior experience with Building Thinking Classrooms is needed.
About the Series
This workshop is part of Math Workshops for Afterschool Educators, a four-part virtual series from ACRES & MMSA through STEM Next. Each one-hour session explores practical ways to engage young people in mathematics beyond homework help.
Educators may register for one workshop or any combination of workshops in the series.
