Math is Everywhere: Numeracy in Nature
Monday, September 14, 2026 | 12:30–1:30 PM ET | Virtual
In this free, live virtual workshop, afterschool and out-of-school educators will explore ways to use natural materials and outdoor environments to make math engaging and relevant for young people.
Participants will explore strategies for representing math problems with natural materials, identifying mathematical patterns and ideas in nature, and using math to investigate authentic outdoor questions. You’ll also gain access to a collection of resources and ready-to-use activities that can be brought directly into your program.
About the Series
This workshop is part of Math Workshops for Afterschool Educators, a four-part virtual series from ACRES & MMSA through STEM Next. Each one-hour session explores practical ways to engage young people in mathematics beyond homework help.
Educators may register for one workshop or any combination of workshops in the series.
