Build the Confidence and Fluency to Make the Most of OpenSciEd

This three-day professional learning experience offers an introduction to the OpenSciEd curriculum for grades 6–12. Whether you're preparing to launch your first unit or looking to deepen your practice during implementation, you'll explore the instructional routines, lesson structures, and student-centered approaches that bring OpenSciEd to life in the classroom.

During each collaborative session, you'll immerse yourself in the lessons, routines, and strategies of the curriculum not just as a teacher, but as a learner. You'll leave with a strong understanding of how to facilitate OpenSciEd units in your classroom, along with the tools to maximize student engagement and success.

This 3-day virtual workshop takes place on August 12, 13, and 14 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM EDT. Participation requires attendance on all 3 days, with four structured monthly follow-up sessions throughout the school year designed to meet you where you are as you begin implementing the curriculum.

Participants will have opportunities to:

  • Engage in actual OpenSciEd lessons from the student perspective
  • Deepen their understanding of three-dimensional instruction and assessment
  • Examine how units are sequenced to build student thinking over time
  • Connect with fellow educators and reflect on instructional shifts and strategies
  • Explore the full range of resources embedded in the curriculum
  • Receive structured support through four monthly follow-up sessions designed to address real questions as they arise during implementation
