Something you’re proud of at MMSA

I am proud of the workshops and coaching sessions I have been able to create for educators throughout the state of Maine and beyond, providing them with the space and time for reflecting on practice, and connecting with each other.

What is your teaching/learning philosophy?

I believe that discussion and inquiry-based learning are the best ways to inspire learners to find their voice, interests, and autonomy. I love watching excitement blossom during moments of exploration and hands-on learning.

What is your STEM passion area?

Biological sciences! In particular, I love learning about ecology, evolution, and animal behavior, and discovering why things are the way they are.

What did you do before you worked at MMSA?

I worked as the Program Coordinator at the Seacoast Science Center for seven and a half years. While there, I created and taught hands-on marine science programming for students and visitors of all ages, coordinated educational events, field trips, and outreaches, and provided trainings and support to volunteers and informal educators.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like spending time outdoors with friends and family and my golden retriever, Scout. In particular, I love the beach, walks through the woods, and cross country skiing. I also love to dance, and read and watch fiction.
